I love t-shirt dresses and wrapping paper

I wore my new t-shirt dress to work today, and my new necklaces. I was told it was the "nicest outfit you've ever worn, and you have a lot of very lovely outfits"

Seeing as I work (some of the time) in a photography studio, I got a lovely picture of my outfit:

I also took the time to make a new dress yesterday evening:

Goes well with the coat don't you think....

I'm going to make some loop belts out of the remains of the fabric, a green one (which would go awesomely with the mustard and purple dress) and a mustard one (because that's the other I have enough scraps of!)

Yesterday evening I also decided to embark on some decoupage with some wrapping paper and a pair of boots I don't wear. This is how it's looking so far:
I imagine I will put some matt mod podge over the top, but I'm using PVA:Water in a 1:1 ratio at the moment because it's a hell of a lot cheaper!

Jersey Necklaces

So I've been making, I've made a couple of skirts which I haven't put on here yet but I thought I would show what I have done with my scraps.
I've been making necklaces :D
I was making skirts from long sleeved t-shirts so I had a few sleeves left over. This is what I did

Cut strips from the sleeves so I had a series of loops

Pulled them to make them curl

I folded them in two and then tied two loops together - you can do this however you want, I did a version of a reef not I suppose....

Make a chain of them

Tie them together and voila!

Dress from two t-shirts

So I experimented with some Primark long sleeved t-shirts, I originally had a different idea and I didn't really need one to be long sleeved so could have saved on that, c'est la vie. They were £3 each, I forgot to take pictures as I went along but this is what I did

Without a belt

I like it with a belt, I also tried to make a bottle green one, to go with the bottle green necklace I've made but belts are not easy, especially when you only have scraps of t-shirt left from making a skirt....

Orange and purple.

It's always a fun day when you go to sleep with a different hair colour to when you woke.
I'm now reddy-orange with purple in the front.

Had some good dinner: fried up some lamb mince with garlic, put that aside and cooked some pasta, drained it, added the mince, baked beans and a tad of marmite. Grated cheese on the top. Yum.

On to today's craft things.
I stamped an old jumper after seeing this jumper, I had some watered down white paint and stamped the pocket of the front of the t-shirt.

Bad pictures but I used a wooden stamp I got in India.

I did some more stamping, and I did some cutting and sewing:
I made this t-shirt after seeing something someone else had made a while ago, then stamped the pattern on the blue half. I'm going to make another with a vertical cut.

And I made an owl after seeing this

but he didn't work out very well. He doesn't look much like an owl....
I want to make some book ends (a la this) for a christmas present for someone, will have to refine my techniques....

Second craft of the day

Decoupage.
My Mod Podge hasn't arrived yet but I found a website that suggested mixing 1:1 PVA:Water as an alternative and so I tried it. Never having done decoupage before I'm not sure which works best but this seemed to be a fun way. I saw an idea for coasters made from tiles and scrapbook paper, but I didn't have any good scrapbook paper, so while I was buying my tiles (11p each from Homebase) I grabbed a wallpaper sample.

This is what I got:

And this was with the scrapbook paper.

I'm thinking glaze, put felt on the bottom, tie 4 up with a ribbon and give as Christmas presents?

(P.S. It was NOT me reading the Daily Mail. Having glue poured over it is too good a fate for the daily mail in my opinion.)

Ok, so blog.

I'm Janet, I like making a big mess and sometimes I make things that I actually want to wear/put on my wall/give to other people and not be ashamed of. I like sewing stuff but I don't like patterns, I like glue, I like making pretty patterns, I like designing stuff on computers, I like making jewellery, I like making things with stuff with completely different intended purposes to what I'm using it for, I like hair dye, I like things to be pretty and most importantly, I like colours.

Today I have made a few things. I made some splints for my wrists (because they have dislocated fairly badly - this isn't exactly a rare occurence for me but I didn't have any good splints) but I'm not going to post how I did that because it's fairly dull.

I did however decide that bandages on wrists could be made a lot prettier so I got to work.

I took a sock and some scissors:

Cut off at the heel:

Cut a space for my thumb, and pulled them on:

And then I liked it so much I did it again for the other wrist.

Much better than beige I think...
